In this post, I will show how to set up your digital Art journal cover, key, and index page spreads. You will get an idea for a customizable journal.
Hopefully, by now you already know your “why” and you have downloaded all resources. So let’s dive straight into creating your first-page spread.

You may often see people start their journals with a page spread with some drawings or quotes. These are called cover pages. They are usually quite pretty and help to define the beginning of something new inspiration.
However, it can cause a lot of pressure to try to create that perfect page. I recommend not stressing about it.

From my experience, I decorated the cover page with year or Month hand lettering, when I first started.
Key page spread set up
If you read the last blog post, you already know about the keys and why they are important.
We already talked about rapid logging and the signs you use for adding information to your bullet journal in the last post. The classic setup goes like this:
Dot – task
Circle – event
Dash – note
Exclamation mark – priority/important
Of course, you’re also free to create any keys you need for yourself. Think of the things you usually write and it should give you an idea of what extra ones you might need.
Don’t use too many different keys. The whole idea is that it helps you to simplify information, so don’t overdo it.
The key is the place in your Bullet Journal where you write down all the signifiers and their meaning. As a beginner, it’ll take some time to get used to rapid logging, and the key spread is there as a very useful reference page.
