Have you created a blog plan? Have you ever thought about what you’d like for your blog? What would you like your blog to look like in 6 months, 1 year, 5 years?

If you’re not sure of the answers to these questions, this post and my blog plan workbook will help you set some simple, and achievable goals to help you create a blog and achieve a profitable blog business.

Since I have started a blog business, and Blog Plan is the most important to achieve the goals. I will be going over step-by-step how to schedule a 1-year blog plan.

I know how overwhelming it can be to want to accomplish so much and not know where to begin. But after almost 5 years of blogging and 3 blogs, I’ve learned a system that works really well. So I want to share my experience with you.

1. Set your 1-year goals and break down goals into quarterly.

Set up your Blog goals

Setting goals is important if you want to grow your blog. It will help you focus your time and energy on what’s most important. And knowing what you’ll be achieving will give you some added incentive to keep going.

Proper goal-setting allows you to tie in your grand ambitions with your day-to-day tactics, so you never get in over your head – but crucially, never sell yourself short, either.

Write down strategies for your goals.

We all know how to set up goals. A well-known method is the SMART method. If you want to know more about the SMART method, please read “personal growth – how to live a better life”

Break down each goal with strategies. How to achieve each goal and by when. After that, you can focus on quarterly goals.

Set your year-around action tasks

Besides Quarterly actions, write down year around actions. For example eg, Pinterest pins, Instagram management, own product or service contents creation.

2. Create post editorial calendar.

I used to plan content schedules with an excel spreadsheet. It is a great tool to keep track of keywords and posting ideas. However, I am a planner lover. I love to write something with a pen and paper. Now also I am addicted to digital panner creation as well. Whatever works for you, you need to create an editorial planner.

Content Mix a.k.a post types mix

Outline Your Content Mix

There are many types of posts. In order to keep things interesting for your visitors, it’s a good strategy to mix up the type of post.

Here are the main types of content that blogs produce:

  1. How-to guides

  2. Opinion articles

  3. List

  4. Product reviews

  5. Case studies

  6. Infographics

  7. Videos

  8. Podcasts

  9. Interviews

  10. Studies and research papers

You can mix the type of post followed by you your niche.

Internation/ national Holiday and event

You can write some important dates and events when planning your editorial calendar, including:

  1. Important holidays

  2. Industry events

  3. Important business dates, such as new product releases or events

  4. Relevant national holidays or event.

Well-written posts about the topics for holidays or events can be viral.

3. Have a brain dump notes to write posting ideas.

As you read my post “Blog SEO: Search engine optimization-The 8 useful tips”, Research main keywords and related keywords are important and fun. I have spent a lot of time researching keywords than scrolling social media for friends’ personal posts.

4. Add post ideas and keywords add to tour editorial calendar for your blog.

As follow generating post ideas regularly, You will have enough for 1 year for a blog post plan. Now add them to your calendar.

As you can see, under the Topic/Type, main keywords, why people search those keywords, you can make it clear what type of post you will write.

Having an editorial calendar for your blog helps you achieve your goals. Also, you can stay focus and keep motivated.
