Doodling Creative gives you benefits

Many people love doodling. You may have drawn your thoughts or pretty flowers in your journal when you were young. Doodling gives me a lot of benefits and enhances my creativity. I would like to share my doodling journey and benefits.

To be honest, I am not an artistic person and art is not my major. I just enjoy drawing as a hobby. Since I started my very first journal(as I remember, I was 7), journalling was compulsory homework in primary school. I drew the event a day with an emotional face, such as a smiley, sad, crying, or angry face. I think that was the first time I drew doodles.

Of course, journalling helped me keep practicing the doodling. I also kept working on my skills over and over to get my doodling on level up.

Thanks to many art creators, I took a lot of help and inspiration from very amazing and talented people on YouTube and the Skillshare course.

I am going to share my doodling journey and some tips that I learned during my own little doodling development and project doodles from time to time for our Creator Club community. And I will tell you where you can get some help and inspiration as well. Because I’m still learning every day myself.

But I think if I could improve my drawing skills (more like developing drawing skills!) so can you! Practice is the Key!

What exactly Doodling?

Doodles are a great way to decorate your journal, as we all know.

But some people said doodling is for kids and childish and a waste of time.

Actually, I don’t agree! Because I am an adult and I still drawing. Also, many women love pretty stationery and stickers. They know that can actually bring so much more creativity and fun to their life.

Doodling can help you connect with your own emotions and can have positive effects on your mind.

Regularly practicing doodling can calm you down and generally improve your mood.

For me, doodling is actually developing my creativity. Also, it can calm my mind and more focus.

Benefits of doodling

Doodling can help you calm down and relax.

We live busy lives, and the world is changing fast. There are many thoughts and worries in your mind. Why don’t you stop for a minute from what you are doing, and grab a pen and paper or tablet and stylus?

The doodling is often soothing and calming, which can be helpful if you’re feeling anxious. If your mind is racing with thoughts, doodling can help slow it down.

Doodling can solve the problem.

Sometimes you have a problem and you’re stuck with no solution. It feels like walking on a foggy road. In my experience, I take a break and step away from the problem, drawing doodling whatever I feel. It can be 10-30 minutes, but I can come up with new solutions or ideas, while I drawing.

Developing your creativity

When people start running, they cannot run a marathon from the start. They need time to build up their muscles. That’s why they plan and practice.

In the same as your creativity also need to build up creative muscle. Doodling can help you to build up creativity muscles.

This gives you a great time to express your emotions.

If you are like me, an introvert, and grew up in an Asian country, you may have a hard time showing your emotions. I am too.

However, dealing with emotions is important for mental health.

Doodling was actually extremely beneficial for mental health and dealing with emotions.

In a way, doodling is kind of like a meditation, when you allow yourself to step back for a second, analyze your feelings and find strength within.

Whenever I feel down or have pressure from work, I grab a table and start drawing seamless patterns. It may take half an hour or so, but after I am done, I feel much better to control my emotions.

So, my best remedy for mental health is meditation, journalling, and Doodling.

Learn more skills

As digital planner creators, learning new skills is essential to growing your business. Since I started the digital stationery business, I learned digital doodling skills. It can help my design process more systematically and fast. Of course, I love the traditional way of drawing as well. But Now a day everything is going digitally. The stationery business has expanded to digital products. So I learned digital gadgets to handle my products more beautifully and functionally.

Let’s start with Doodle

Above all those benefits, you don’t need to be overwhelmed by doodling, you just need to start.

It’s not about things looking great and perfect art, so if you doodle for any of the things I mentioned above, you just need to take the pen or stylus and start drawing lines. What comes out is not that important.

You can draw this in Pocreate

Schedule some time for yourself, pick a piece of paper and just dive into it. It can be flowers, patterns, or your favorite stickers of whatever you want. The idea is just to let your hand draw whatever you feel.

Don’t worry if you make mistakes, it doesn’t matter. Keep practicing and take care of yourself.

Now, in case you want to learn doodling in a more digital journal, like how to doodle different things to decorate your journal, I got you covered.

I have recently added a project to our creator club post, which will help our creator club members learn to doodle. Every Monday, each lesson will be added and updated. And it will be an ongoing project for our creator club members to get tips and resources.
