I am constantly practicing self-management for mental growth in the early morning. I have a conversation with my inner self. But as summer approaches, this routine changes.

Warmer weather, changes in your routine, and travel due to slightly looser pandemic regulations can make it increasingly difficult to get away from your routine and focus on yourself.

Here are some helpful ideas for self-management for yourself during these times.

15 self-care ideas for a healthy summer.

1. hydration

As you all know, the human body is made up of more than 75% water. Hot weather and strong sunlight can cause our bodies to become dehydrated.

According to an article in Medical News Today, the recommended amount of water should be increased as you get older. On average, you should drink half your body weight in water.

The 3 ways to stay hydrated

  1. Keep your water jug in the refrigerator to keep your water nice and cool and ready to drink.

  2. Buy a cute tumbler or water bottle that you can take with you anywhere. I love my Hydroflask water bottle and take it with me all summer.

  3. Keep a record of your water intake using the app or planner tracker. (Monthly intake tracker)

2. Skin protection

Intense sunlight affects the skin a lot. A great summer self-care habit is to change your skincare routine. Focus on moisture and SPF. Be sure to buy high-quality sunscreen.

If you are traveling to an area where UV rays are strong or the beach, like Australia, where I live, sunscreen is a must. Apply enough sunscreen and reapply after wet or 80 minutes (or whatever grade of sunscreen). Also, wearing a cover-up, hat, or rash guard can provide sun protection for outdoor activities.

For skin protection, my favorite products are:

my favorite sunscreen Lotion and spray

3. Increase outdoor activities.

When you want to read or sit quietly and relax, throw away the sofa and sit on your patio or garden. Grab a lap blanket or lawn chair and some reading material and relax on the shady lawn.

4. Take a walk

In the summer months, the sun is high, so it is good for long walks. A great way to clear your head with a long walk and enjoy a warm summer afternoon. It is also good to exercise with friends.

If running is difficult, you can try power walking. Try walking for 20-30 minutes a day. This has a huge impact on mood, hormones, and cardiovascular health.

5. Shop at the local farmers’ market.

Take advantage of seasonal produce and local vendors. A trip to the farmers’ market can be a great opportunity to try new foods and incorporate healthier options into your diet.

6. Gardening

Whether you want to start gardening or create a small garden on the veranda of your apartment. It’s also a good idea to grow vegetables like lettuce with your family and watch the plants grow.

7. Declutter your space

Clear one small space. A small, visible space, such as a tableware drawer in the kitchen or a desk in the study, is clean and can help to calm the mind without being cluttered.

8. Meditate outside

Meditation of 5-10 minutes will help you calm your mind and focus your mind. Experiencing the inner stillness and adjusting to the outer world promotes peace of mind.

So try to practice outdoors.

Sit comfortably on a towel or blanket on the grass or sand and close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Meditating outside can be a completely different experience. You may find your mind wandering more. Just focus on your breathing again. You can also do this in front of an open window in the sun if sitting on the veranda, patio, or grass doesn’t get in the way.

9. Decorate Your Summer Music Playlist

Create a collection of music that fits the summer mood. Music can be an easy way to improve your mood and motivate you to move. Listen to your favorite music while exercising or cleaning.

10. Have a picnic.

Enjoying dining outdoors gives you fresh air and sunlight and refreshes you.

Eat a sandwich, drink coffee, and laugh. You have lunch with your friend or co-worker on an outdoor park bench rather than in the cafeteria at work or indoors at a restaurant.

11. Reading

Reading as a form of self-care is one of my favorite activities. I read while waiting for an appointment or meeting to start. So I carry a book. Unlike cell phones and social media, a good book allows you to escape from reality for a while during this killing time.

Books are also suitable for travel. So, I always carry books and journals with me when I travel.

12. Try New Exercises

Allowing endorphins to flow can help calm the mind and improve mood. Consider outdoor activities like hiking, tennis, or swimming. Exercising suitable for summer can also help develop new hobbies. Of course, don’t forget sunscreen and insect spray when exercising outdoors.

13. Journal Writing

Writing can be a great way to express your feelings and confirm your feelings. Or it could be a place for brainstorming or drawing. Make everything you need.

As you already know about journaling, our shop has an all-in-one self-care digital journal, “2022 Self-Love Journal,” that can help with your journaling.

14. Be creative

If you like to create or paint, summer is a perfect time. It’s a season where so many colors appear and shine, so it’s good to be inspired.

Create a piece of art that inspires you. You don’t have to be a world-class painter or musician. Taking the time to engage in creative hobbies can help relieve stress, regardless of skill level.

A great way to express your creativity in the summer:

  1. Outdoor paintings can be a really cool way to use nature as an inspiration.

  2. Renovating old furniture – a little paint can be a great way to add color to a space.

  3. Take artistic photos with your camera or phone.

  4. Try new musical hobbies such as guitars and pianos that have been neglected.

For me, I usually draw the objects for clip art that I am inspired by throughout the day. I sketched my summer fruits to develop a digital sticker. This is the way I am creative and get more passive income.

15. Enjoy Spa Day

Enjoy a spa day at home. Taking a bubble bath, using a face mask, or doing a DIY pedicure can all be inexpensive ways to help take care of yourself.

Scented candles, essential oils, and relaxing music can all add to the spa vibe.
